Get To Know ID: Jessica Ronnell, Team Lead

We know you like hearing about what our program is up to, and of course what games are coming out! But we know you’d also probably like to know who the heck we are! So we’re starting a new series today of team spotlights, so you can get to know us!

Let’s start this off with Jessica Ronnell, our Team Lead!

What is your name?

Jessica Ronnell, however Jessica is not my real name and was legally added before I started the 9th grade. You’ll never guess how I chose the name Jessica. And the addition of the name is a bit of a long fact about myself. I was born during the civil war in Cambodia. My family went through a lot and eventually escaped the Khmer Rouge and the Killing Fields. We were lucky enough to make it out and stayed in a refugee camp in Thailand for 3 months before we were sponsored and came to the United States. I am absolutely lucky to be alive and to be here today.

What is your quest?

I would love to have an all in one vehicle. It’s a plane, it’s a boat, it’s a car—what is it? It’s the amazing Jessiecar! The only vehicle you’ll ever need. Honestly, my lifelong dream is to just try to be the best I can be and help others reach and achieve their dreams to the best of my abilities. That is what puts a smile on my face.

What is your favorite color?

Blue. I know that for some people favorite color changes as they age, but for me it’s always been blue and I can’t imagine that changing.

What other names do you go by?

I’ve been called Chipmunk (on the account of my chubby cheeks), Jess, Jessie, and my real name by those who knew me prior to 9th grade. Oh I know I haven’t provided you with my real name yet. 😉

What is your alignment?

I’m a fairly balanced person, so my alignment will most likely be neutral for everything.

Do you have a familiar?

I have an Alaskan Malamute, Benjamin, who’s 5 years old. I think my spirit animal would most likely be a wolf. Which is funny because my gamertag is TygerLadi (totally opposite). Although if you’re looking at Pottermore.com – then my Patronus would be the Bloodhound.

What kind of video games do you like to play?

I love puzzles, simulations, strategy, and platformers. I appreciate all games, but there are certain things I can’t play. FPS tends to make me sick from the camera motion, and well—the Discord community (discord.gg/idatxbox) and ID Team are very familiar with my reaction and the side effects of me and anything horror related. However, it does not mean that I don’t think that they’re great. There’s a lot of amazing games out there!

What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to EVERYTHING. My music collection is super eclectic. For instance in terms of genre I’ve got Pop, Rock, Soft Rock, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, R&B, Opera, Rap, Classical, and more. The years of these songs span anywhere from the 20’s (It Had to Be You by Isham Jones) through the present. I’m seriously looking at getting tickets to go see Air Supply this Valentine’s Day. 😃

What kind of books do you read?

I LOVE Sci-fi and Fantasy Fiction. Books like Ender’s Game, Dune, The Golden Compass, Alanna the First Adventure, Alan the Maker series, Enchantment, A Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe series, A Wrinkle in Time, and yes I dare say it—the Twilight series.

Do you have a secret skill that few people know about?

Most people think I am left handed, but really I’m ambidextrous. I can eat, write, crochet, bat (baseball), throw, etc. with my right hand. It’s not as strong as my left because I don’t practice with it enough—but it’ll do if anything ever happens to the left side. 😊

What’s your favorite random fact about yourself?

I record myself singing all of the time—and no one else gets to hear it.

Where can people find you on the Internet?

I’m on Twitter (@jessicaronnell) or they can pop into the ID@Xbox Discord channel—I’m pretty active in there.

Stay tuned for more team profiles!
