Community Profile: ID@Xbox Community Captains

Hey all! This is our first entry in a new feature where we’d like to highlight members of our community. First we’ll be featuring profiles of our Community Captains, members of our community who assist us with our discord, streams, and other random stuff. We wouldn’t be as successful as a community without them so I’d really like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for all of their help (along with all of you who come spend time with us, you’re all awesome!)! In no particular order:

How long have you been playing games? What do you like about independent games? ID@Xbox Games?

I’ve been playing video games ever since my parents bought me an NES when I was 5. From that point on I knew video games would be a lifelong hobby. I own a wide variety of games across about a dozen platforms. The thing I love most about independent games is that they often have unique and innovative ideas because the developers are able to take more risks. ID@Xbox games are so varied that there is something out there for everyone. I enjoy most genres and therefore look forward to a wide variety of games. Another benefit of the ID@Xbox program is that developers can self-publish their games which makes the process of getting their game out in an easy and efficient manner.

What are some of your favorite ID@Xbox Titles and why?

I own the majority of them so this is a tough one for me because I have so many favorites! First of all, some of my favorite genres include twin-stick shooters, shmups and platformers. Neon Chrome, Crimsonland and Enter The Gungeon are awesome twin-stick shooters. Some shmups that I really enjoy are Stardust Galaxy Warriors: Stellar Climax and Sky Force Anniversary. As for platformers, some of my faves are Chariot, Badland: Game of the Year Edition and Electronic Super Joy. Some other great games that fall into other categories include Ziggurat, Roundabout, Rogue Stormers and Skyling: Garden Defense. There are so many more that I really enjoy but I think that will do for now!

How have you enjoyed being a Community Captain?

I enjoy being a Community Captain and I am humbled to be given this role. I have always enjoyed helping out the Xbox community whenever possible (as I am also an Xbox Ambassador) so being an ID@Xbox Community Captain lets me further assist people in the ID community, be it on the ID@Xbox streams, in the ID@Xbox Discord channel, or on Xbox Live! I enjoy being able to hang out with and help out community members who also love ID@Xbox games!

What other things would you like to see the ID@Xbox Community do?

Awhile back there was a fun, friendly yet competitive event for the game I Am Bread that community members participated in. The goal was to get the fastest time possible on a designated level in the game. There were also prizes given out, and of course bragging rights. I would love to see more contests or challenges like this. Maybe even a new challenge in a different game every week.

Where else can we find you?

As some of you may know, I often stream ID@Xbox games on my Twitch channel here: http://www.twitch.tv/karnage. I enjoy playing and showcasing these games on stream and usually can be found achievement hunting along the way! You can also track my achievement progress on the awesome community site TrueAchievements. Also, you can find me on Twitter and on Xbox Live.

How long have you been playing games? What do you like about independent games? ID@Xbox Games?

I have been playing games since back when the Master system & Mega Drive were released. The thing I love most about independent games is that there is such a big variety of genres and titles available.

What are some of your favorite ID@Xbox Titles and why?

Late Shift – I was suggested to play this one and it’s totally a new type of game that I hadn’t played and it just keeps you on your feet. It’s played as a real episode/movie with real actors and different choices on the fly. How this is done is just so amazing with so many different endings.

The Escapists – With this game as well there are so many possibilities on how you can escape the prisons. I have spent countless hours in this game and really enjoyed every second of it.

Rise & Shine – From the second I started this game I really liked the art style and the gameplay along with the story, I was glued to this title for many hours and still attempting to do the story on insane mode!

And last but not least: Rocket League – When I first started playing this game I was a total rookie but as I played more I got better and better (I’d like to think I am anyway 😝) Playing this game with a solid group of friends requires so much teamwork but if you can get the gist of the mechanics its really fun.

How have you enjoyed being a Community Captain?

I have really enjoyed being apart of the ID@Xbox community and being a Community Captain as I really like helping people and thinking of new ideas! It has been a really great adventure so far and it has brought me new friends and it’s the community is where I met my life partner!

What other things would you like to see the ID@Xbox Community do?

I would like to see a few get together sessions in the week where we could play games together. That would be neat!

What do you love about the ID@Xbox Community Members?

The members of the ID@Xbox community are easy to get along with, very friendly, and helpful.

Where else can we find you?

You can mainly find me hanging around in the ID@Xbox discord; feel free to add me or drop a message! Also I am on twitter @GamerJameo.

How long have you been playing games? What do you like about independent games? ID@Xbox Games?

I started on the NES as a child. My brother and I received the system for Christmas. So we started early. I was between 5 and 7 when we got the NES. I like the ID games for the variety. The games range from building a city to going for the neck shots. There is definitely something for everyone in the program.

What are some of your favorite ID@Xbox Titles and why?

Cities: Skylines – Once I built the trains it brought me back to the set we had at my parents’ house. I find myself just following the trains around the city.

Death Squared – Playing this on co-op with the wife has been entertaining. Working together on that is the challenge when you can easily kill the other person for a good laugh.

Flockers – Lemmings, as close as you can get to it on the One!

(Wife wants me to say Penarium as it is her new favorite)

How have you enjoyed being a Community Captain?

Getting to know the other members, helping with games and just answering general questions that I can.  Just a few months ago this was a community I didn’t know existed.  I am happy I found it and found new friends.

What other things would you like to see the ID@Xbox Community do?

I think some community game nights could be fun.

What do you love about the ID@Xbox Community Members?

They are a passionate group of gamers that all have their reasons for playing and all like different games. Even though there are so many different personalities everyone gets along with the joy of gaming.

Anything else you’d like to let us know? (Could be a funny gaming story)

So recently I finished Aqua Kitty UDX: Xbox One Ultra Edition and when I got the last achievement my celebration scared the cats that were in the room with me.  Made me laugh.

How long have you been playing games? What do you like about independent games? ID@Xbox Games?

I have been playing games since I was 5 years old when I got my N64. I enjoy Independent developers, because they tend not to stick to the status quo. ID@Xbox games are great because they are cheaper than a full fledged game but offer some of the best experience on console anywhere. ID and ID@Xbox allows for people with great ideas and low budgets to create awesome games that are accessible to many.

What are some of your favorite ID@Xbox Titles and why?

Easy. My favorite ID@Xbox titles have been Play Dead’s ‘Inside’ for its engaging story yet simple direction, and Playtonic’s ‘Yooka-Laylee’ for its large world collect-a-thon like game play. Both happen to be spiritual sequels to earlier great games (Limbo and Banjo-Kazooie). I also have a huge love for a game that is currently in Game Preview ‘Pit People’ made by The Behemoth (creators of Castle Crashers and Battle Block Theater). I love platforms and puzzlers and there are many others I have not named yet enjoyed.

How have you enjoyed being a Community Captain?

There are few things I have enjoyed in the past year more than becoming community captain for ID@Xbox. The support that everyone has shown towards me and the places that this will take me in the future make me excited every day.

What other things would you like to see the ID@Xbox Community do?

I would love to see some more competitions for the community to engage in. Other than that I hope that we can find some cool ways for the community to show off what they have accomplished within the ID@Xbox Library.

What do you love about the ID@Xbox Community Members?

There is nothing like waking up everyone morning and having happy people great you. The community treats everyone like family, welcoming everyone. Don’t change!

Anything else you’d like to let us know?

There are a couple of awesome ID@Xbox games coming soon that I can’t wait for; particularly Cuphead and Raiders of the Broken Planet. Everyone should look into these and more games coming up. With over 1000 games in development this coming year and the next few are going to be special.

Best!
