ID@Xbox Games You MIGHT Have Missed in 2016

Hey ID@Xbox fans!

As the new year approaches and we look back on our releases in 2016, the team at ID@Xbox wanted to highlight some of our games that you might have missed. (Really there are so many jewels, so we may miss some of your favorites. We’d love to discuss it in the comments!)

The Flame in the Flood:

flame-in-the-floodYou play as a girl in her dog just trying to survive in a post-societal American in The Molasses Flood’s The Flame in the Flood. You’ll forage, fight, and craft your way down a procedurally-generated river. From the art director of Bioshock, and a team of veteran developers, this game has beautiful visuals and an amazing soundtrack that you’ll definitely enjoy. If you’re looking for a rogue-lite game with elements that will remind you of Don’t Starve, The Flame in the Flood will definitely scratch that itch.

Lumo:

lumo

Lumo is a charming contemporary take on the old school isometric platform genre which comes to us from Rising Star Games. You’ll play as a wizard and negotiate your way through 400 rooms across four unique zones. This is a game that any puzzle lover will enjoy, and any long time gamer will enjoy the nods and callbacks to the games of yesteryear. The more you explore the more there is to enjoy in Lumo. You’ll be sure to find a super fun game that constantly challenges you!

Axiom Verge:

axiom

Axiom Verge from Thomas Happ Games is the Metroidvania style game you were waiting for. With solid gameplay and beautifully rendered pixel art, this action adventure game is a ton of fun. You’ll play as a scientist who awakens in a mysterious alien world and explore all the depths of the large labyrinth to uncover your role in the story. With tons of weapons, items, and abilities you’ll fight bizarre biomechanoid enemies, and you can even break the game itself, using glitches to corrupt the world and solve environmental puzzles. Axiom Verge is a throwback to the old days that is definitely work picking up!

Oceanhorn –  Monster of the Uncharted Seas:

oceanhorn

Grow from a boy to a legend. You wake up and find a letter from your father. He is gone…The only lead is his old notebook and a mysterious necklace. What happened? This is the premise of Oceanhorn – Monster of the Uncharted Seas, a breathtaking 3D adventure from Triangle Studios. Enjoy an incredible soundtrack from the legendary Nobuo Uematsu (Final Fantasy) and Kenji Ito (Seiken Densetsu) as you master magic and swordplay and explore the ancient kingdom of Arcadia. This is a journey you don’t want to miss!

Hyper Light Drifter:

hyper-light-drifter

Echoes of a dark and violent past resonate throughout a savage land, steeped in treasure and blood. Hyper Light Drifter from Heart Machine is an action adventure RPG will remind you the best 16bit games with modernized mechanics and beautiful design. You’ll play as a Drifter, collectors of forgotten knowledge, lost technology, and history as you travel into the lands of Buried Time in search of a cure to your harrowing disease. Lovingly hand-animated, the art style is a feast for the eyes. The game play is amazing, as you face off against difficult enemies and hazardous paths. Hyper Light Drifter is a treat!

The Bug Butcher:

the-bug-butcher

The Bug Butcher from Triangle Studios is a enjoyable side-scrolling shoot em up where instead of facing your enemies head on, they’ll be coming from above. If you’ve ever wanted to experience pest control in space this is the game for you. You play as Harry, a talented exterminator whose current assignment takes him to a research facility on the planet Zoit. Your mission: to decontaminate the building room by room, spend your coins on upgrades, and protect the scientists from the bug menace. The Bug Butcher is a game you can’t miss!
