Molasses Flood reveals how they pitched their game

How do games get made? Last week, we got a peek behind the scenes of Never Alone’s development, as Upper One released a postmortem on the game. Now, Molasses Flood gives us a look at how they got started with The Flame in the Flood.

A rogue-lite river journey through the backwaters of a forgotten post-societal America. Forage, craft, evade predators.

Travel by foot and by raft down a procedurally-generated river as you scrounge for resources, craft tools, remedy afflictions, evade the vicious wildlife, and most importantly, stay ahead of  the coming rains.

This is how developer Molasses Flood describes their upcoming game, The Flame in the Flood. It’s been shown at conventions over the last few months, we’ve seen a trailer, and now, Molasses Flood is giving us a look at how they pitched the game to investors and media. Polygon has the full “pitch document,” which features several pieces of concept art and descriptions, such as those below. To get a closer look, head over to the Polygon article and download the document!
